When most people think of a newborn photo session they might think of a studio setting, sleepy babies, perfectly posed baby in a basket. While those are works of art and can be absolutely stunning, they're not for everyone.
In-home lifestyle sessions are an entirely different experience. I come to you—your space, your pace. Not to mention the whole family gets to be in the photos- especially mom- which I think is the most important part!
With these photos we get more raw, real, and personal images. A collection of honest, emotive images that show more of a storytelling element that reflect what life actually looked like in those early days.
Here’s why in-home sessions are so special:

1. Baby Calls the Shots (and That’s Okay)
If your baby doesn’t want to be put down or refuses to sleep during photos—no big deal. We follow their lead. There’s no pressure to force a pose or rush through a timeline. Whether they’re feeding, wide awake, or a little fussy, we work with it.
2. You Don’t Have to Leave the House
When you’re healing, tired or adjusting to new rhythms, the last thing you want to do is pack a diaper bag and travel to a studio. It’s totally normal to not feel like yourself in the beginning. In your own home you have the freedom to take breaks and retreat into another room if needed.
3. There’s No Strict Timeline for These Sessions
Sometimes there are things out of your control that prevent you from doing your session within the first 2 weeks of your baby being born. Or- you may decide right after your baby is born that you’d like a photo session. With in-home sessions there is so much more flexibility since the baby doesn’t need to be sleeping for lifestyle images. In studio solo shots often require baby to be sleeping which happens less and less as they get older.
4. You’ll Actually Be In the Photos
This isn’t just about your baby- it’s about your new family. The majority of the images will be with you, your partner, any siblings and of course your fur babies. I’ll guide you into natural poses that highlight connection (think baby snuggles). As a mom who’s usually the only one taking the photos since my kids were born and having mostly poorly lit selfies so I can be in them, this is important to me and it’s my mission to help other moms get in the frame with their family to share with generations to come.
5. These Photos Represent Real Life, Not Perfection
This is the bed and couch you snuggle on as a family, this is the chair that you feed at 3am, the nursery you painted and your partner set up the furniture. It’s not just about what your baby looked like, but what life felt like.
6. No Worrying About Packing all the Things
All you need is right there. There will be no, “Did you pack the pacifier?” “Oh no I thought I brought the extra bottle!” You’ll still misplace the paci and forget where you put the bottle, (thanks “new parent brain”!) but at least it will be under the same roof!
7. Older Siblings Are More Comfortable
Toddlers and long photo sessions in unfamiliar places? Not a great combo. At home, they can take breaks, grab a snack, or show me their favorite toys. We keep it light and playful, which makes for much better photos (and way less bribing). One of my favorite tricks is when I have the older siblings show me their room and I get photos of them in their “big kid” rooms before I even start taking photos of the new baby. This makes the older sibling(s) feel important and be more likely to participate in the rest of the photos.
8. Life Changes- It’s Fun to Look Back
You never know what is to come… you may move out of the house you lived in when you had your babies or change it drastically some day. It’s fun to look back yourself, and will also be fun for your child(ren) as he/she get’s older.
9. You Don’t Have to Clean the Whole House- Seriously
I usually just take photos in one to three different places in your home. I choose the ones with the best light- often a bedroom or living room. I’ll guide you on how to prep those areas but basically it’s more about clearing the clutter than making things “clean.”
And no judgement from me! I've been there done that and even though my kids are grown, my house is still never perfectly clean or clutter-free (unfortunately).
10. Still a Work of Art- Your Life
The images we create are beautiful, emotional storytelling portraits of you and your baby in real life- that’s art too, just a different kind.
